Synopsis
Jen and Bella are a young couple with their whole lives ahead of them; Jen a budding artist and Bella a wordsmith with her poems, but when their gallery date is cut abruptly short by the outbreak of a deadly virus, they find themselves in the midst of the end of the world. As time goes on, the two realise that their demise is inevitable, and the future they imagined for themselves has been pulled from their hands.

Everything erupts into chaos, and in the throes of it all and under the influence of the infection, Jen disappears, leaving Bella in distress and with no other choice but to be brave and take charge. Eventually, the two find one another, but their reunion is bittersweet. The chaos has driven them apart and brought them closer. It has forced them to grow, to confront not only the issues in the world around them, but also their own insecurities that they’ve been avoiding. Jen and Bella know the only thing they want is to be together, and when the realisation strikes that time is not on their side, they know the only thing they can do is find somewhere they can be together.
About us
Wildfire is a queer-led crew of student filmmakers and for almost a year, we’ve been working together to bring life to a story that, at its very core, is human.
It has been our goal to create something that is true, and real, and that resonates with those who see the film.
Wildfire is an important film representing queer female relationships with the narrative not centring on their sexuality or a coming out story, but rather the journey Jen and Bella must embark upon, amplified by the hostile backdrop of the end of the world.
We love this film unapologetically, as our main characters love one another, and we hope you do as well.
